The Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington, with a rainbow arching over it

We show up. We stay.

Lutheran Migrant Solidarity Network stands with detained migrants at the Northwest Detention Center — through accompaniment and the long witness of faith.

Our covenant

We are a network of Lutheran congregations and individuals called by faith to stand with our neighbors who are detained. Rooted in the promise that every person bears the image of God, we show up — at the fence, at the window, in the halls of power — and we do not leave.

"I was a stranger and you welcomed me." — Matthew 25:35

Join a congregation team for vigils and accompaniment for detained individuals and their families.

Get involved

Write a Letter

A handwritten letter is one of the most powerful gifts you can offer a detained neighbor. Learn how to write, address, and send letters that pass mail screening and carry real pastoral presence.

Form a Ministry Team

Organize a dedicated team within your congregation — for visitation, letter writing, grief support, or advocacy. We provide training, coordination, and connection to the broader network.

Take action
"I didn't know what to do when my neighbor was detained. The network gave me a place to stand — and people to stand with. That changed everything."

— Volunteer, Tacoma Lutheran congregation
